Project Description
Dermal fillers are injectable products used to smooth out lines, enhance and restore volume to sunken cheeks or temples, enhance lips and improve facial symmetry. Most fillers used today are made from Hyaluronic Acid (HA). This is actually a naturally occurring substance that is already found in large amounts in the skin. One of its functions normally includes skin hydration, but over time it is naturally degraded by the body.
HA fillers are soft and gel-like with treatment results lasting from 6-12 months depending on the product used. Common fillers include Belotero Balance®, Volume® and Intense® as well as Juvederm®.
Another naturally occurring substance that is used as a cosmetic filler for deeper lines and wrinkles is Calcium Hydroxylapatite (CaHA). This is typically thicker than hyaluronic acid fillers and will last longer, usually at least 12 months. The common filler used with CaHA is Radiesse®.
